It seems to me that different doctors emphasize different things with respect to what you can and can not do with the band.
These are the rules I'm to live by...
Don't drink 20 minutes before you eat through 30 minutes after you eat.
Eat 60-80g of protein a day.
Drink 64 oz of water a day.
Don't eat bread, rice, or pasta at all for 6 months.
Don't drink anything with carbonation for at least 6 months.
Don't have any caffeine for 2 weeks after surgery.
Exercise at least 3 times per week.
How do your rules differ???
What, if anything, does your doctor say about bread/pasta/rice, or carbonation?
Do you have a number of calories guideline.
Are there any other rules that your doctor gave you that my doctor didn't touch on at all?
Thanks for your input!!

Mine:
I can drink up until I eat but not until 30 minutes after.
Eat protein first (4 oz), then vegetables or fruit and if there is room a bit of carbs.
Drink between meals.
Be careful after fills
Mine are the same as yours.
Mine are mostly the same, though I was told never ever to drink carbonated drinks. Also, after fills, I do a day of liquids, and depending on how I feel, sometimes a day of mushies before I go back to regular food.
Mine are similar. We can have whole grain breads and pasta, but only after protein and vegi's are ate and if we are still hungry. Carbination is not strictly a no-no, but only in moderation. Protein 60-90g per day. I'm about 2 weeks away from my first fill....I can't wait to get restriction!
I don't have to many rules yet! But so far I know that I am not supposed to drink for 30 minutes before and after dinner. 60+ protein..gotta start taking a multi/vit. Prot. first, veggies next, and very little carb if I am still hungry. I'll be sure to post more when I know more! :)
My doctor said the following:
•No carbonated drinks EVER!!
•I can have bread & pasta it just has to be wheat.
•at least 6 glasses of water; none 30 mins before a meal/1 hr. after.
•at least 60g of protein & eat it first.
•AND at LEAST 200 mins of exercise a week. He says more is always better.
•he says he only counts fat grams, but the head nurse said to count cals, fat and carbs.
Mine are a little less strict. I can drink up to mealtime, but not for 30 minutes after. I can eat pasta, etc, but only after protein & veggies. I had coffee that day after surgery, they just emphasized that you need to drink extra water with caffeine.
Thanks for the nice comment on my blog today - I starting following you and noticed you're in Ellicott City! I live in Elkridge- about 10 minutes away. Let me know if you'd ever like to get together.
