More brain farts....

  • Just about everyone east of the Mississippi has been getting rained on in the last few days because of Lee – that is one big ass storm.
  • I threw my back out this weekend – well that’s not true – I didn’t do a damn thing and yet, my back is out.  I wish a had a good story to go with this, but alas I do not.
  • I drank a tremendous amount of gin and tonics and wine this weekend… is it related to the bullet above??? Perhaps?
  • I have been reading Angela's Repair and Renovation blog from the beginning and well 1st  of all, I’m in love.  And 2nd of all – I think she’s been spending some time in my brain.  She's learned, or at least seems to have a handle on all the same kinds of things I'm still working through - but the way she talks about those things is the same exact way I think about them - it was lovely and inspiring to read - and I'm not done yet!
  •  My son, Ted.. well, I worry about that boy...  It's a damn good thing he's cute (as I tell him all the damn time).  Bless his heart, but he has the common sense of a pencil eraser.  I guess it's a good thing he's book smart too, otherwise there would just be no damn hope.
  • I'm fairly sure I'm never going to lose another pound again and I'm just going to have to learn to live with my disappointment.  Okay, perhaps it's that I need to work up to disappointment - I watch what I'm doing and it's just not good - choice wise in the food department - and I just keep doing it anyway.  Keep doing what you've always done and you'll keep getting what you've always gotten.  I believe I need a very small fill - like .1cc - but my doctor won't give fill less than .5cc and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to swallow my own spit with that size fill.  So I need to get off this very well padded ass and do something about it.
  • There's a FillCenter USA about 45 minutes from my house - is there anyone out there with experience with them??? Will they give small fills?? Will they actually listen to the patient's wishes and thoughts, or at least take them into account??
  • I made homemade egg noodles tonight, (thanks Camille) and while they were too salty, I'd give myself a solid B+ for my first attempt.  You cook them in chicken stock and eat it sort of as a stew - think dumplings sort of - wow - yum!

A few quick brain farts

  • Tom is due any minute now and I can not stop shoving things into my mouth.  Not big things, but just things.  So far I’m managing to not be too unhealthy – but omg – if he doesn’t show up soon, I may start eating the desk.

  • So, I walk into my room last night and Bandit the wonder dog’s head pops up and he has the most guilty, “Oh shit!!” look on his face as he lay there straddling Kenny the four foot kangaroo in a very, very intimate embrace.

  • My MIL is coming in a couple of weeks.  I have mixed emotions about this.  She will require extra work and cheerfulness on my part – I have to take her shopping and out to dinner a few times.  Maybe dinner and a movie.  Like I don’t have enough stuff going on in my life.  But the upside – there’s no doubt she’ll provide a few blog posts – so that’s fun!!

  • OH and speaking of Ricky… my SIL, Dawn, with whom Ricky lives put as her status on FB yesterday for an hour or so before she thought better of it the following….. picture this having dinner with a 68 year old woman who does nothing but complain about the dinner I just fixed her until finally she’s had enough and leaves the table in a cloud of her own gas leaving me to clean up her and everyone else’s mess.    Which led to the following discussion…
Brad: Clearly this trip down here is coming at the right time for Dawn, maybe a little late even.
Me: If she ever complained about food you or I made for her I’d bop her upside her head.
Brad: She’s afraid of you; she’d never say a thing.

What can I say… I prefer to think of it as I bring out the best in people.

More brain farts.....

I can't believe I haven't found a reason to use this picture again before now!!

  • First of all - Sarah over at Weighing In both works in a WLS office and is also a WLS patient.  I've just found her blog and so far it's really great - but I wanted to highlight this really great post where a band surgeon rebuts the recent articles that show band surgery in a negative light.  I highly recommend reading it.
  • 41 rainy degrees is not acceptable baseball weather for children or parents... seriously!
  • I am really struggling with doing what I know I need to do and it's seriously getting on my nerves.  It feels so exactly like it always did.  Getting up every morning and stating the best of intentions and figuring out some way to fuck it up before I go to bed at night then feeling like a total failure... rinse, repeat.
  • I am so completely able to eat way, way, way more food than any other bandster I know, but I'm so afraid of being too tight I'm not sure what to do about that.
  • I'm guessing rice must expand inside your body.  Tonight I ate leftovers from the Japanese hibachi restaurant that we went to for Brad's birthday dinner last night.  It was mostly rice and this could be the first time I've had that since surgery (which is more about not really liking rice than for any other reason) with some scallops and veggies in a stupid good sauce - I ate the whole dame plate full.  Very slowly, chewing really, really well.  No problems with it at all.  It went right down.  No issues.  And then.... about 15 minutes later... I'm thinking of having my left shoulder surgically removed.  I'm thinking a small strategic cut - right there on the top.. how big a loss could it be???
  • I just killed two stink bugs which is not unusual and one yellow jacket when I just went into my bathroom.  Um... yellow jacket??? It's in the low 40s outside.  Yellow jackets are summer bees.  What the hell is one doing around in cold early April??? Not to mention INSIDE MY HOUSE!  Jeesh!
  • And speaking of inside my house... So.. I'm putting Jackson to bed tonight and I look up...
Me: Honey, what's that on your ceiling??
          Jack: underwear
Me: uh... underwear?  Why is there underwear on your ceiling?
Jack: Teddy glued it up there.
          Me: WHAT?!?!
Jack: Oh not glue... he used double sided tape.  I'm just waiting till he's at
soccer practice to get him back.
          Me: Great.

Tonight's brain farts...

I'm totally stealing from Tessie Rose and Kagead... so sue me.

  • I totally want to do a whole post using the authentication words you get when commenting on a blog post.  Today's favorite is synfele - (Latin-to sin with feeling)  Or maybe just start dropping them in here and there - maybe with a little index at the bottom with my definitions for them included....  (I even kept a word document going for a while listing them because I was so amused and maybe also a little obsessive.)
  • I've recently discovered that 1 10 year old son + 14 stitches = way too much eating of way too much comfort food for mommy.  Perhaps I should have just gotten bombed that first night instead of eating like this for a couple of days.  I hate that it was such an easy and comfortable coat to put on that I didn't even notice I was wearing it for a while.
  • I'm totally annoyed that Kindles aren't backlit -like the kindle ap works out to be on my iphone.  I'm not yet sure I'm totally sold on it - though I think the lighted cover I just ordered which will make it bigger (which I want) and more expensive (which I didn't) and usable in bed at night while Brad's sleeping will go a long way towards me loving it - but the jury is definitely still out at the moment.
  • Why is sex such a taboo subject?  I so want to make that less true - can we start a revolution?  I think some of the best conversations are when people can just be open and honest about what they like and don't like and what works and what doesn't.  Doesn't it make sense to be able to share our knowledge about this subject just like we do about so many others?  Though, oddly I find people look at me funny when I suggest that perhaps they should go home and get laid - or take matters in their own hands - or drop to their knees in front of their partner and rock their world.
  • I've got this crud that's going around and it's fucking pissing me off.  It's not quite bad enough to really knock me down - but it's just slowly leaching the life out of me.  I want it to either kill me and get it over with or leave!
  • I can't spell to save my life.  I wish I cared about that more.
  • Using a 10 key calculator all day everyday has robbed me of the ability to do simple math in my head  (it's a common occupational hazard). I find it a little embarrassing.  People will often look to me, the accountant, when out to dinner to figure out how to split the meal (equally) and determine the tip (20%) - and I seriously can't do the math up there in the little old noggin anymore.  I generally refuse - please don't hate me for that if we're out to eat together in the future.
  • Why does Reese's insist on making peanut butter eggs at Easter time? (and hearts for Valentine's day, and trees at Christmas?)  They're evil I tell you.
  • I think the owner of the Orioles and the owner of the Redskins both have exceptionally small penises that they work hard to overcompensate for by believing they can be the sports directors of their respective teams in addition the owners.  And the years and years and years of evidence to the contrary doesn't seem to stop them from continuing to do it.  (it just goes to show you that the size of the penis is not in direct proportion to how it effects the brain from which it is hanging).
